Dr. Carlos Grandela was born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He attended Brigham Young University for his undergraduate degree, when he met and married his wife, Neltje.

Dr. Grandela graduated from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, with a doctorate in optometry. He received the Beau Willis Endowed Award for community service dedication at graduation. Dr. Grandela conducted a residency in Low Vision Rehabilitation and Ocular Disease at the Illinois College of Optometry and the Chicago Lighthouse in Chicago, Illinois, after graduating from optometry school.

Dr. Grandela is a Low Vision Rehabilitation optometrist who is passionate about assisting patients in overcoming the challenges of vision loss so that they can remain independent and continue to pursue their passions, hobbies, and lifestyles. He is dedicated to helping both young patients with inherited eye diseases and seniors with acquired ocular diseases.

Dr. Grandela is a bilingual doctor who is fluent in both English and Spanish. Dr. Grandela enjoys running and hiking in his spare time, as well as trying new restaurants and spending time with his wife and three children.
