A new, portable video magnifier with a ton of functions and an intuitive user interface is the Smartlux® Digital. The huge 5″ LCD TFT display features 5 various viewing modes, including full color, black on white, white on black, black on yellow, and yellow on black. It also offers magnifications of 5x, 7x, 9x, or 12x (even less when used in hand-held mode). Two modern SMD LEDs provide lighting, and the tactile control buttons are simple to learn and operate. Up to 20 images can be kept after being recorded. The Smartlux® Digital has a stand that, when extended all the way, is perfect for reading, and it has a generous depth of focus. It is best for writing when put in its half-extended position. When using other backlit displays, such as those on mobile phones, the two tiny SMD-LEDs on the device’s underside can be turned off to reduce screen glare. The screen is created with an extra anti-glare layer of film, has a strong coating for scratch prevention, and a high resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Only three basic control buttons—On/Off, Magnification setting, and Contrast Mode—are identified with symbols. To conserve battery life, there is an automated shut-off mode that will engage after 2 to 5 minutes of inactivity. Each magnifier comes with a lanyard, a cleaning cloth, and a secure zipped bag. The Smartlux® Digital Bumper may be purchased separately for further security. The magnifier is protected from harm if dropped by a rubber bumper that wraps around it.
