Hummel Eye Associates in Edmond, Oklahoma provides cataract and refractive surgery treatment as well as macular degeneration management and macular degeneration monitoring for residents across Oklahoma. Established in 1969 as a subsidiary of Omni Eye Laser Vision Center and led by Quinton Oswald (CEO). Oswald also serves as CEO of Notal Vision (an ophthalmic device company which developed an at-home monitoring system for wet age-related macular degeneration), having extensive international general management experience and as CEO at Notal Vision (which specializes in home monitoring system).

Dr. Hummel

Dr. Hummel is a board certified ophthalmologist, with expertise in cataract and refractive surgery. He has performed thousands of successful procedures and keeps abreast of new technology and techniques through membership in both the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and American Academy of Ophthalmology; additionally, he serves as Chief LasiK surgeon at Omni Eye Laser Vision Center in Edmond, Oklahoma.

He brings a strong background in research and development (R&D) chemistry to Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies as their Technology Manager; having previously served as a researcher at Leibniz Institute for Catalysis as well as receiving his PhD. Furthermore, he holds a certificate in Catalysis from University of Munster. Furthermore, he serves as Technology Manager responsible for producing hydrogen and carbon monoxide from catalysts.

Hermann Hummel played an active role in various political activities during Germany’s revolutionary period. As an active member of the Social Democratic Party and later its successor party DDP, he served in 1919-1922 as minister of culture and education in Germany’s Parliament; additionally he founded Baden’s National Assembly Assembly.

Hummel was born in Lahr, in the Grand Duchy of Baden. He attended universities in Heidelberg, Freiburg im Breisgau and Strasbourg to study astronomy, chemistry, mathematics and philosophy respectively. Following graduation he taught chemistry at high schools in Karlsruhe before going on to work at Electra Werke GmbH paint factory as a chemist.

He spends his free time hiking and exploring New York City. Additionally, he volunteers at an animal shelter in Brooklyn. One day soon, he hopes to work at a hospital specializing in feline and canine medicine.

Quinton Oswald of Vero Beach, Florida boasts extensive international general management experience and is widely known for developing breakthrough medical products such as an ophthalmic device which detects early stages of wet age-related macular degeneration via mobile phone app monitoring changes in central vision changes; alerting physicians if patients exhibit wet AMD symptoms. Recently presented at American Society of Retina Specialists’ 2020 annual meeting.

Dr. Eakins

Dr. Eakins has been practicing family medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for over 20 years and holds licenses to do so both in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. With experience treating diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration and cataracts as well as extensive knowledge in surgical anatomy pertaining to body parts.

Calhoun Community College graduate with an A.S. in police science and B.S. in criminal justice and business administration from Athens State University. Additionally, he completed FEMA’s National Emergency Management Executive Academy Cohort III program and holds certification by ASIS International as a security manager. In addition, he serves on the American Red Cross Indianapolis chapter board.

He enjoys painting with his children and has displayed their works at many art shows in Pennsylvania – including the State Fair – where his work has also been showcased. Furthermore, he volunteers his services for numerous organizations serving on boards and committees as an active volunteer.

Eakins’ most well-known work, The Gross Clinic, depicts a medical scene similar to Rembrandt’s masterpiece, The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Tulp. Surgeon Samuel David Gross is depicted overseeing surgery while lecturing to medical students – underscoring his prominence as a native Philadelphian while documenting medical sanitation practices at that time.

Darrin enjoys many interests outside his medical career, such as stock market investing and futures trading. Additionally, he has made significant contributions to his community such as volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and giving one of his homes away to charity. Furthermore, Darrin has participated in service learning courses such as Ingram Scholarship program.

Darrin holds a bachelor’s degree in the sciences from Baylor University and attended Wake Forest School of Medicine to earn his doctorate. Subsequently, he completed a 6-year internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University specializing in treating sports injuries associated with pickleball. Darrin currently practices orthopedics in Wilmington North Carolina.

Dr. Privott

Dr. Privott specializes in complex contact lens fittings, such as scleral and hybrid contacts. For over 20 years she has been part of Hummel Eye Associates and serves on their team. As a Board-certified Optometrist she treats all aspects of family eye care including pre and post cataract surgery management patients and community volunteerism (serving on Girls Inc, AVillage and University at Albany’s Initiatives for Women Boards).

She loves hiking, playing pickleball and spending time with her children and husband in her free time. With an admiration for education, she holds degrees from UAlbany’s Rockefeller College, Massry School of Business and College of Arts and Sciences; furthermore she was honored to receive both the 10 Under 10 award as well as Girl Scout Lifetime of Inspiration award.

Notal Vision is revolutionizing eye disease treatment with their ForeseeHome device, helping doctors detect when dry age-related macular degeneration transitions into wet AMD, leading to severe blind spots if left untreated. The device performs daily tests that are transmitted for analysis; should any change appear, immediately notifying physicians.

Dr. Ankoor R Shah is an esteemed ophthalmologist with 8 years of practice under his belt, specializing in retinal diseases and diabetic retinopathy. Additionally, he offers extensive expertise in macular degeneration management as well as surgical solutions for choroidal neovascularization, macular hole and macular degeneration surgery. Additionally, he has written multiple articles published by various ophthalmic journals.

Dr. Britton

Dr. Lewis Britton is a cardiothoracic surgeon affiliated with various hospitals in Albany, NY. He specializes in adult general thoracic surgery, aortic repair and mitral valve replacement procedures as well as minimally invasive cardiac surgery – for which he earned his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine before practicing for 39 years.

Dr. Britton keeps busy both teaching and performing; her clinical schedule includes appearances as principal horn of Owensboro Symphony Orchestra and guest horn with Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra; regular performer with Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra; USAF Heritage of America Band from Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton Virginia 2010-2015 and freelancing in many regional orchestras and festivals; appearing at various concerts.

Notal Vision of Manassas, Virginia is a diagnostic services firm that has pioneered eye disease management by taking tests outside of clinics. Their ForeseeHome device enables patients to conduct daily eye exams from home and transmits the results back to the Notal Vision Data Monitoring Center for analysis by physicians when changes from baseline occur, helping identify and treat wet age-related macular degeneration more promptly.

Quinton Oswald, CEO of Notal Vision, has spent his career in international business. He was involved in multiple successful start-ups as a key member and held leadership positions within several high-growth enterprises. Now retired in Vero Beach, Florida he remains committed to his mentorship work at Notal Vision as both board member and mentor.

Dr. Britton attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana on both academic and softball scholarships. She completed both a surgical internship and residency program at Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Hospital in Rochester, NY; here she gained expertise in treating cranial cruciate ligament disease, fracture repair, wound management and travel medicine. In her free time she enjoys quilting, reading and travelling – she is married and has two children!
