EPA & DHA

EPA & DHA are omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids known to provide numerous health advantages. Being essential fatty acids that the body cannot produce itself, Omega-3s must come from diet or supplement sources like fish, flax seeds, walnuts, chia seeds or soy for maximum effectiveness in treating depression and dementia risk.

Studies have linked taking omega 3 with vitamin D supplements to improved eye health, including the prevention of dry eyes. Research is still ongoing but omega 3 may hold the key to combating multiple eye diseases. If taking any other medications (including blood thinners) it is wise to discuss this decision first with your healthcare provider before beginning an omega 3 supplement regime.

The daily recommendation for omega-3 fatty acids varies with age. To establish what quantity is suitable for you, consult your physician or the Office of Dietary Supplements of the National Institutes of Health.

Take one capsule daily with food. Do not exceed the daily recommended dosage. Store in a cool and dark area out of reach from children.

Vitamin K

Vitamin K (also referred to as menaquinone) is a fat-soluble vitamin known for helping to form blood clots and maintain strong bones in your body, while also playing an integral part in bone metabolism and regulation of osteoblast differentiation.

Vitamin K deficiency can lead to abnormal bleeding. Newborn babies are given vitamin K either intramuscularly shortly after birth or orally to prevent hemorrhagic disease of the newborn (HDN).

Vitamin K is produced naturally in both the liver and large intestine by bacteria. Additionally, it can be found in meat, dairy products, green leafy vegetables, and vegetable oils – not to mention meat products! – and various other sources, such as meat products, dairy products, green leafy vegetables and vegetable oils. Vitamin K serves as a cofactor in blood-clotting proteins like proteins VII and IX formation as well as anticoagulant proteins such as proteins C and S formation. While Vitamin K1 stores in liver cells for storage throughout body distribution while other subtypes vary according to enzyme affinity or tissue distribution.

Studies conducted in vitro have demonstrated the positive effect of vitamin K2 on osteoblast function by increasing their proliferation, decreasing their apoptosis rate, and upregulating their expression of osteogenic genes. It has also been observed to enhance calcium binding to bones by osteoblasts.

Vitamin K2 plays an integral part in bone mineralization and formation of extracellular matrix formation. Furthermore, vitamin K2 stimulates bone turnover in vivo by activating osteoblasts and upregulating specific osteogenic genes transcription. Supplementation with Vitamin K2 was demonstrated to augment the beneficial effects of glucocorticoids and sciatic nerve neurectomy on bone turnover while simultaneously increasing Gla-OC deposits within skeletal structures.
