Symptoms
Pink eye, commonly known as conjunctivitis, is an infection of the outer membrane of the eyes caused by viruses or bacteria, typically characterized by watering, reddening, itching and discharge from both eyes. Sometimes it spreads further to affect cornea (keratitis) causing blurring vision, halos at night as well as blurry vision in general. Because this infection is contagious it should be kept separate from others by using different utensils, towels and soap; symptoms usually resolve themselves within 7 days.
Treatment
Sharat Maxivision Eye Hospital recently introduced Myopia Master, an eyecare software program designed to identify myopia in its early stages and predict its progression among children. This system measures all key eye parameters including cornea length and curvature, refractive error, spherical aberration etc, before comparing this data against normative data to calculate myopia index. Timolol maleate/hemihydrate (Betimol, Timoptic or other generics with an AB rating); two drops twice daily is sufficient (Ref); gel-forming solutions may contain benzalkonium chloride; wait at least 1 minute before reinserting soft contact lenses again.
