Dr. George Kornfeld

With 35 years of experience as a low vision optometrist, Dr. George Kornfeld serves the people of western New York as well as the areas from Westchester to Canada.

After getting his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, he went on to become a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry as well as a member of the Low Vision Section.

After working under an expert in the field, Dr. William Feinbloom, who is the inventor of multiple miniature telescopes that are on the market today, Dr. Kornfeld gained more experience in the area of low vision by working at several hospitals over the years. He played a vital role in the corroboration of a low vision clinic for a rehabilitation center at the Mary Imogene Basset Hospital, located in Cooperstown, NY.

Dr. Steven Schoenbart

Since 1978, Dr. Steven Schoenbart has been part of the optical world. Upon completing his degree at the New England College of Optometry in 1986, he continued an elective residency program at the Northport VA Medical Center in Northport, New York, specializing in Rehabilitative Optometry in 1987.

This area of optical specialization allowed him to open his own practice, Schoenbart Vision Care, in 1988 in East Meadow, NY. Twenty years later he relocated his clinic to Garden City, NY. Some of the benefits behind this move were to offer increased parking availability, new office hours and easy access to and from local highways.

Over the years, Dr. Schoenbart has added some impressive skills to his resume:

  • Board examiner for the regional testing of optometrists with NERCOATS
  • Selected to represent optometry in NYS on Governor Pataki’s Medical Advisory Board for the Department of Motor Vehicles from 1996-1998
  • Served on the board for the Nassau County Optometric Society since 1992
  • Served as the Nassau County Optometric Society President from 1996-1998
  • Is NYS Certified in Low Vision- Rehabilitative Optometry

Through a variety of specialty aids like contact lenses for those who had been told they had corneal irregularities and contacts would be impossible, Dr. Schoenbart is able to help post-stroke and post-cataract patients as well as those suffering from diseases such as macular degeneration, optic atrophy and glaucoma. His passion is helping others regain their independence and improving their quality of life after vision loss.
